Aashram of a Treacherous Godman, Review By Shivam Bajaj

Introduction

“Aashram” of a Treacherous Godman By Shivam Bajaj: Prakash Jha, has been an amazing filmmaker, who with his sixth sense continues to make films on the concepts of Realism along with the complementing sets which most of them turn out to be real.

“Saand Ki Aaakh”, Lipstick Under My Burkha, Rajneeti, Gangajal have been a few of his films. Slowly and stead-lily as we study more about Cinema, we have been able to identify the style of a director by not only cinematography but direction also has been the criteria which later turn out to be the USP. For example, we all must have seen how Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s films have been and how Larger than Life Sets he uses to portray angles and shots, or even Hard-Hitting Storylines of Meghna Gulzar, or Ace Direction of Prakash Jha. Films have always been close to us, close to our hearts.

Religion has been a very powerful way to persuade people, be it politics or blind faith. Since our childhood, we all have been taught to follow a particular religion according to our family and this continues forever after, and the generations also will continue to lead the same way. (fortunate or Unfortunate is another endless debate). Recently, Bobby Deol Starred “Ashram” a web series, featured on MX Player. Before going deep into the story, let me tell you the cast of the show,

Setup of The “Aashram

Those of you, who do not know about where the Show & the set was created, as I already said that since the director uses the realism concepts of filmmaking. Hence the set was not created but is an actual palace called “Raj Sadan” in Ayodhya. Unlike many other movies based on Realism, it has become a tradition of as to how certain Boycott sentiments continue to flow. The same happened with the popular hashtag which called to ban the show as it was defaming the religion. Now, this is not new that a show was called for a ban after it’s successful or it portrays the truth about the scenario, this is again I would not like to talk on ( as its another topic of endless debate). This Ayodhya set, the show was the actual portray of how religion is being used to continue the process of malpractices under its name.

The basic storyline of the series revolves around ” of how a Baba tries to create an Empire out of his believes and continue to foul play with his malpractices. The Empire witnessed many illegal events such as Drug Peddling, Sexual Assault on Women & Harassment, Drug Abuses, Murders, etc.

Character Portrayal In “Aashram “

Kashipur Wale Baba

Kashipur Wale Baba which was played by Bobby Deol did a tremendous job by engrossing in the character so much so that the viewers were even engrossed by the show and his appearance. “Bobby Deol could do slightly better” are referred by some The other cast members – Mainly ” Chandan Roy Sanyal” who played Bhopa in the series, was a perfect choice as the character demands. Bhopa was a perfect mix of a character which also is the mastermind of all malpractices and on the other hand, is also a Fake Religious person which makes a blend of the personality as the character demands.

Bhopa

The Entire Cast of the show was a blend of what the character demands and add the real onscreen presence via acting. The portrayal of how an actual ashram could be is the other side of the story. The Treacherous Godman and his army continue to haunt and disturb not only the common people to whom he calls “Bhakts” but also the people in Power, The Narcotics Control Bureau Scene is such a powerful portrayal of as to how deceitful these powermongers can go. “Ashram” of a Treacherous Godman turns out to be true with each and every episode of the show. “JapNam“- Common symbol unlike any other ashrams, this too has its USP as people use to call “JapNam

While Some people are criticizing by saying that Only “Bobby Deol” is the bad thing in the show, I believe that Bobby Deol playing an opposite character from his usual roles is appreciated but, Yes, it could be a little better.

Conclusion

Every show has a Beginning, Middle & the End, the show according to the last episode of the 1st season seems to be more attention-grabbing and is successful in creating suspense for the second season. for the other major revelations. The Prakash Jha Starrer is a perfect watch over MX Player for which the link is also mentioned below my video. Also, do take out some time as you have read the review to watch my video below on “Dhongi Babas” Dhongi Babas have been continued to harass people and snatch them their money to, misusing the faith turns the entire game into a kingdom of Deceit, Malpractices, and Mistrust under the name of God.
