Sushant Singh Rajput, Game of Turning Tables: Today, a very large chunk of the population exists on the internet, with Social Media being widely used in scenarios, people have slowly and steadily become the weapons of Mass Destruction especially when using these platforms and especially Facebook, Twitter & Instagram. Since the Time of #SSR case, not only the mainstream media but also the social media is filled with opinions, twisted and molded as facts. There is a proverb that says “If you run a Lie 1000 times, it becomes the truth”- this is what happens. We have seen instances from the past where Trials have played a major role in the cases, and here I refer to the unfortunate Media & Social Media Trials, especially for #JusticeForSustantSinghRajput.

The Constitution of India gives its citizens a right to freedom of speech and expression, but in this case, this doesn’t seem to be true, as many people seem to deny from the fact and misuse the right for leveraging their own social media metrics; YouTube Channel Verifications, Subscribers, Hits, & engagements. Utilizing the case for one’s own advantage is never being mentioned anywhere as a Right to Freedom of Speech and Expression, rather its a violation. As the case took turns, came in the name of Actress “#RheaChakraborty” and slowly and steadily, we all have noticed that how a campaign is known as “JusticeForSSR” tuned its direction and started to involve in Nepotism, Drugs, and whatnot. With the case moving forward with investigative agencies, the hashtag calling justice seems to fade away and turned towards #JusticeForRhea. Seeing the situation about what media and people have done to Rhea’s image, the justice was important for her too, I am here not accepting or denying any cases against her but only mentioning the fact about how derogatory words had tarnished Rhea’s image.

We as netizens have the right to share opinions but only on the basis of facts and not spread hatred. Everyone must have seen, the fake Video on Instagram citing to Sushant Singh Rajput’s body showing his hand movements. This particular video garnished a blast in engagements and was being widely shared just in demand for engagements. Not only Social Media, but we all have witnessed (though social media) that people claiming of his body having death marks, or some claiming it to have stains on his body.

Responsibility

Being a Netizen, it’s not my responsibility to tarnish any one’s character in what not names but my responsibility is to present facts in a balanced approach or at-least even if not that the not getting fall for the propaganda machines. I am again letting you all know, that I am not here to present my opinion to tarnish anyone’s character but what was done was incorrect. Taking the onus of the Agencies and making these as weapons of mass destruction. Social Media has contributed to all the forms possible In our lives, be it in the form of education or whatnot.

Agencies like ED, NCB, CBI are meant to do their jobs which are done efficiently but unfortunately rather than caring about other important issues, we are glued the Fancy Sensationalised Headlines given to us on our TV Sets and Mobile Phones. “If a lie is told 1000 times, it becomes the truth” – the quote is quite relevant even today seeing the scenario of the case. Whenever any channel is being Switched on, their day starts with Sushant and ends too. Sadly, the JusticeForSSR took the entire internet in the storm by false revelations and sensationalized propaganda articles. Same people, which tarnished the image by calling Rhea a “Witch” and whatnot are now being Sympathetic to Kangana Renaut. I am again not following any opinion on cases but sudden shift seems to be disheartening.

Conclusion

Sushant Singh Rajput has taken its course from Justice for SSR which has slowly turned its tables from the case to Nepotism, Narcotics, Rhea Chakraborty, etc. Every day, New propaganda, and hashtags are meant to demean and defame images of people, be it rhea or her family. It was quite evident that many people in order to boost their social media metrics played stories on their respective channels to defame and demean people and gain engagements. Justice For Sushant Singh Rajput has turned its tables from the case to Justice for Rhea. Let’s get Justice for Sushant but by not being the justices ourselves rather demanding the same. Sadly, the coverage this case is getting (only propaganda), this is nowhere a justice for Sushant Singh Rajput. Understanding Social Media is our right but again not to use it for sensationalism or following the herd mentality.

Our interest should not lie in the Jail Schedule of Rhea rather other important issues as well. Further courses will depend upon how you all will react to the coverage. Where will the course lead to from Death to Nepotism, then from nepotism to Drugs, but basics are being forgotten off?
